The population lives mainly from agriculture, harvesting bivalves in the Torre d'Aires area (where structures of the important Roman city of Balsa dating from the 3rd to 1st centuries BC have been discovered), production of good quality citrus fruits and small trade. Iron and joinery work and artifacts for artisanal fishing are produced.
In gastronomic terms, in addition to the cuttlefish feijoada, oysters and corn with clams, the regional almond sweets should be highlighted, to be enjoyed in the various restaurants of the parish. Regarding accommodation, the parish has some infrastructures.
