I'm a sleeping beauty... Built at the beginning of the eighteenth century by the Thomassins de Mazaugues, a family of Aix-en-Provence parliamentarians, a remarkable property in the centre of Aix, I have remained intact. Of the 3 pavilions in the city, I am the one in Trimond... A true haven of peace in the middle of the city, I preserve all my mystery behind high dry stone walls. Within my walls, magnificent French and English gardens are embellished with fountains fed by a canal and stone channels, at the head of which sculpted snails served as watering dispensers. My gardens are delicately worked and will give you a first crush when you enter from the south alley. Built on the outskirts of Aix half a century before the bastides, this small pavilion successfully sketches the Provençal art of living of the eighteenth century. Although the city has gradually surrounded it, it has remained in its original enclosure where water is abundant, where nature is sometimes abundant and sometimes orderly. Its location, its construction specificities, its orientation and the preservation of its terraces give it an ecological modernity that is unique in Aix. Originally built to escape the embarrassments of the city, it was also a place for testing and developing agricultural techniques, irrigation, acclimatization of plants from the New World... More than 300 years after its construction, this pavilion has retained its assets to perpetuate a Provençal quality of life at a time of climate change. A horseshoe staircase leads you to the Pavilion. It is of remarkable quality in its proportions and the accuracy of its elements. The first floor was originally the only habitable part but my building is now spread over 2 levels. In the 19th century, an extension connected the pavilion to a 15th/16th century mill. Many outbuildings spread over my property will adapt to everyone's needs. Being a true jewel of Aix, the main façade of my pavilion, the living room adorned with its decorative plasterwork and the French garden are listed as historical monuments. I am looking for my future owners, lovers of history, charm and gardens, eager to give me back my shine and revive my walls... An architect has already worked on my renovation and will be able to help you project yourself into these timeless places.
